Celebrating Local Talent: ownworld’s Vibrant Showcase at Saturday Indesign 2024
At Saturday Indesign 2024, ownworld’s Darlinghurst showroom was transformed into a dynamic celebration of Australian design. Curated by ownworld’s creative director Sam Manley, the installation featured an impressive all-Australian line-up, with standout contributions from Aplós, A R N O L D studio, Derlot, Dowel Jones, and Remington Matters. With a bold colour-blocked palette, the exhibit highlighted local craftsmanship, further elevated by premium textiles from Kvadrat Maharam.
The thoughtful integration of Kvadrat, Maharam, and Sahco textiles brought additional texture, depth, and vibrancy to the display. Each carefully curated material selection accentuated the pieces' unique character, enhancing their aesthetic and tactile appeal. Reflex by Kvadrat x Raf Simons upholstered Derlot’s Pipeline backrest, while Steelcut Trio 3 by Kvadrat adorned the A_SOP Lounge Chair from A R N O L D studio. Sahco’s Cifrado fabric added softness and dimension to Derlot’s Pipeline seat, with Sahco’s Cuba Velvet enhancing Derlot’s Biggie Lounge Chair and Dowel Jones’ Pool Stool. Additionally, Maharam’s Meld covered the Village Plump Modular Lounge by Aplós.
The showcase also marked the introduction of ownworld’s new partnership with Derlot, helmed by designer Alexander Lotersztain. Derlot’s innovative designs, including the S1 Stools, Pipeline Modular Lounge, Biggie Lounge Chair, and Strap Outdoor Collection, were a focal point of the display. Paired with Kvadrat Maharam’s premium textiles, these pieces struck the perfect balance between functional modern design and playful vibrancy.
