The partnership of Denmark-based Kvadrat and US-based Maharam in Australia is founded on a shared philosophy of design innovation and service excellence.

A dedication to furthering contemporary visual culture, a commitment to the environment, and a rich history of family ownership has strengthened this bond since 2001 where the two companies started to operate joint ventures in Australia.

Kvadrat

Kvadrat was established in Denmark in 1968 and has deep roots in Scandinavia’s world-famous design tradition. A leader in design innovation, Kvadrat produces high-performance, design upholstery and curtain textiles, rugs and acoustic solutions for both commercial and residential interiors. 

Our products reflect our commitment to colour, quality, simplicity and innovation. We consistently push the aesthetic, technological and functional properties of textiles. In doing so, we collaborate with leading designers, architects and artists including; Patricia Urquiola, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Alfredo Häberli, Doshi Levien, Giulio Ridolfo, Peter Saville, Pipilotti Rist, Thomas Demand and Olafur Eliasson.

Kvadrat textiles play an important part in commercial, public and domestic interiors around the world. Their extensive collection continuously meets the needs of designers and architects. Kvadrat textiles have been used in architectural developments in Australia such as PwC Future Space,  The State Library of Victoria and Norton Rose Fulbright.

Maharam

Founded in 1902 in New York, Maharam is a leading creator of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Recognised for its rigorous and holistic commitment to design, Maharam embraces a range of disciplines from product, graphic, and digital design to art and architecture. The Maharam Design Studio is dedicated to introducing a fresh perspective to textile design through a focus on aesthetic and industrial innovation augmented by long-term, interdisciplinary collaborations. Represented in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Stedelijk Museum, among others, Maharam partners with a range of cultural and educational institutions to honor design history and encourage critical dialogue. Maharam is the recipient of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum Design Patron Award for its longstanding support of art and design.
