Lincoln by Adam Goodrum, upholstered in Kvadrat/Raf Simons and Kvadrat Febrik

nau’s Lincoln collection is as nostalgic as it is striking. Inspired by the iconic Lincoln Continental vehicle and designed by Sydney-based industrial designer Adam Goodrum, this series of modular sofas captures the authentic character and charm of the 1970s. Deeply reminiscent of its namesake, Lincoln is upholstered in textiles from Kvadrat/Raf Simons and Kvadrat Febrik.

The Continentals were the height of elegance and prestige in the ’70s, easily recognisable for their generous proportions, low-clearance chassis, and ultra-luxe interiors. In keeping with this classic look, the Lincoln collection features long lines, wide armrests and deep, low seats.

“I wanted to create a collection that could enhance a space without dominating it,” says Adam. “Lincoln harmonises perfectly with its surrounds; the internal geometry that engages with the body has a gentle roundness, making it visually soft as well as physically comfortable. Equally, the outside geometry is a touch more linear or architectural to give it an air of quality and sophistication.”

Bold yet refined, the Lincoln sofas can be styled as stand-alone furnishings or configured for larger settings. “Lincoln was designed with total versatility in mind,” says Adam. “It has a residential feel, but it can also be translated to commercial settings – from hotel lobbies to airport lounges, hospitality venues and workplaces. And because it’s made up of several modular components connected to a base, it allows for more stylistic freedom.”

Available in set widths, including single seat and ottoman sizes, Lincoln can be customised to create L-shaped and side-by-side configurations. Additionally, the legs are available in brushed stainless steel and powder-coated mild steel finishes, and minimalist solid timber coffee tables can be added to the ends of the sofas in Walnut, Natural Oak and Black-Stain Oak finishes.

Lincoln is upholstered in Ria by Kvadrat/Raf Simons and Arda by Kvadrat Febrik. “Kvadrat has so many beautiful textiles, and the Lincolns served as a large canvas upon which I could experiment with interesting textiles,” says Adam. “Arda’s muted expression possesses a tapestry-like quality, whereas Ria’s intriguing three-dimensionality makes it feel almost like a field of wildflowers.”

Both textiles are a nod to the vehicle that inspired the sofas’ design: Ria’s subtle pigmentation and fragmented colours create a three-dimensional, shimmering effect, emulating the elegance of the Lincoln Continentals, whereas Arda’s earthier hues and fluid, natural appearance convey a sense of warmth and nostalgia.

Lincoln is a wistful reminder of times gone by. Together with wonderfully evocative textiles from Kvadrat/Raf Simons and Kvadrat Febrik, this design blends luxury with comfort and seamlessly integrates with modern interiors.
